The Buyer Planner Champion specializes in item master management. Find items by group, buyer, or code, then bulk update buyer assignments, item status, and supplier fields -- all with a preview and confirmation before any changes are applied.

What You Can Do

Query Items

Search your item master with flexible filters:

By item group: "Show items in group FASTENERS"
By buyer/planner: "Find items assigned to buyer SMITH"
By item code: "Look up item BOLT-M10"
By site: "Show items at site 10-100"
Unassigned items: "Find items with no buyer assigned"

Bulk Update Items

Make changes across many items at once:

Reassign buyers: Move items from one buyer to another

How It Works

Search Workflow

Describe what you are looking for -- the Champion validates all codes automatically
If a code is invalid, the Champion suggests similar valid options
Results appear in a table with item details
Items from your search are saved for the update step

Update Workflow

Search first -- find the items you want to change
Request the update -- specify the new value and optionally which items to include
Review the preview -- see a sample of before-and-after changes plus the total count
Confirm -- say "yes" to apply, "no" to cancel, or "details" to see the full list of changes
All updates execute as a single batch for efficiency

Flexible Update Filters

When updating, you can target specific items from your search:

Buyer Reassignment

Scenario: A buyer leaves and their items need to be reassigned.

           Sample changes:

Finding Unassigned Items

Scenario: Identify items that need a buyer or planner assigned.

Tips and Best Practices

Validate codes first if you are unsure: "Show me valid buyer codes"
Use specific filters to narrow your update scope before applying changes
Ask for details during the confirmation step to see every item that will be affected
Updates are applied in a single batch -- efficient even for hundreds of items

Troubleshooting

Invalid item group or buyer code

The Champion validates all codes automatically. If a code is invalid, it will suggest similar valid options. You can also ask: "What item groups are available?"

"No items found"

Verify the item group, buyer, or item code is correct
Try broadening your search (remove a filter)
Check that you are searching the right site

Prepared update expired

If you wait more than an hour between preparing and confirming an update, the prepared changes expire. Run your search again and re-prepare the update.
